Weekend menu – 11 & 12 August 2017

It’s the second week in August and we were thinking about putting the heating on last night to take the chill off the dining room….aahh the great British summer!     At the moment we have tables available for Friday evening but Saturday is filling up so please call on 01453 832808 to reserve for dinner. Saturday brunch served from 11a.m. and no need to book, just pop in. If it’s dry we will have the courtyard open too.

A bit late with the menu today. I can only blame it on the mini heat wave which meant I dashed from the office (which is over the restaurant kitchen and therefore rather warm) once the orders were placed and the menu was written without doing the blog bit! We enjoyed a nice busy brunch last weekend with young Lucy having to dash out mid service for supplies so I have ordered a good quantity of gluten free Gloucester sausages, free range Dursley eggs and home cured bacon from Country Quality Meat for this Saturday. Weekend menu – 21 & 22 April 2017

Just placed the fish order for tomorrows delivery. Fingers crossed there are no hiccups this week. Last Thursday night the van coming up from the South West did not make it to the rendezvous point in time so the supplier in Cirencester did not receive the stocks they needed to fill the orders they had. I did feel sorry for the chap who was ringing round to irate chefs on Bank Holiday Friday to apologise and inform that numerous items were unavailable, short or substituted. It wasn’t a major issue for us as we just changed the weekend menu and wasted a few sheets of A4 but it will have been a huge spanner in the works for some of the large hotel and banqueting operations. Glad those days are behind us!

Easter weekend menu

As you wander around the local valleys you may well have noticed 3 little vineyards on the slopes, the first of which was planted in 2007. Woodchester valley vineyard, a family owned concern are now producing a range of wines from their hand picked grapes. We are stocking 2.                                                                                                   Bacchus – an aromatic dry white and Regent Rosé – an off dry fruity rosé. Both are available by the glass or bottle and well worth a try.                                                   Cotswold wines from Cotswold vines……what’s not to like?                                             We are fully booked for Saturday evening, tables available for Good Friday at time of writing, as always please call us on 01453 832808 to book.

Last week’s Cheltenham festival failed to bring in the hoped for crowds of customers. In fact what with no shows and cancellations it was probably our worst ever festival week confirmed by one regular who used to come every year with his syndicate of six or so who was dining alone this year.Hey ho……looking ahead, it’s Mother’s day on Sunday and we have one table available for lunch if you would like to join us.
