Weekend dinner menu – 29 & 30 June 2018

You’ve got to love us Brits in a heat wave. Whilst most folk would be sat in the courtyard with perhaps a glass of chilled Rose and a starter of potted Devon crab we also get customers at a table indoors hunched over bowls of steaming soup on the hottest day of the year. The fish supplier just called with Line caught and tagged Cornish pollock for tomorrows delivery. Caught by Darren Jose from his day boat Sea Maiden out at sea from Hayle Harbour it doesn’t get much fresher or sustainable. Tables for the weekend are available. Please call us on 01453 832808

Here comes the weekend……menu written, orders placed, weather looks promising….will you be joining us? Dinner served from 7p.m. Friday and Saturday with tables available at the moment. Saturday brunch served in the dining room and “al fresco” in our courtyard from 11a.m. No need to book, it’s very casual so just drop in, grab a newspaper and relax.

Whoops…a bit late with the menu this week. It was only when the lunchtime news came on the radio I realised the fishmonger had not rung yet. All ordered now for delivery in the morning so I can finalise the menu and post it. Tables a plenty for Friday dinner at the moment. A sign of the times perhaps but I see the Vegan cafe around the corner is closing down this week and the little coffee shop up on the top is closed and has a bailiffs notice attached to the front door. We had a call this week from someone who said they had not been in for some time and asking if we still did tapas. The previous owners of our business did a form of tapas with San Miguel on draught but they left in summer 2003! You’ll find a lot can change if you leave it 14 years between visits. We have a glut of courgettes and tomatoes at the moment. As well as our own home grown produce on occasion friends and customers very kindly turn up with a box of large, misshapen courgettes or similar and there is only so much soup, sauce and chutney you can make. We’ll repay the favour when our pears are ready, it looks like another good year and in fact we are still using the 2016 pear chutney.
