Mid week menu – 21 to 23 February ’17

Ahhh … it’s Sunday…the only day of the week we don’t have to field numerous telephone calls from energy suppliers, utility agents, business rates advisers and the like as well as folk selling advertising space and of course those who seem to think we have a never ending supply of raffle prizes and free meals to give away to their many worthy causes. The new stone blocks have finally arrived for the repairs to the corner of the building following the “car meets restaurant” incident earlier in the year. The reason for the long delay was that the stone cutter put the measurements in the pocket of his shorts then forgot about them before doing his laundry……or so we are told!!? Now of course with temperatures forecast to dip below freezing it will probably be too cold for lime mortar work this week.At this rate the insurance company will have closed the file by the time we get the invoice in!

We had the most amazing mackerel delivered last Friday. They were straight off Cornish day boats and must have weighed in at a kilo a piece making a rather generous portion but they were appreciated by all who ordered it and happy days we had a couple left for ourselves…delicious!
