Weekend menu – 23/24 June ’17

Just spoke to our fish supplier and we have Devon crab, prawns, crayfish, Isle of Man queen scallops, line caught bass and Cornish monk fish ordered for delivery on Friday morning. Weekend menu – 2nd & 3rd June 2017

She got it right this time! Our daft duck was in the courtyard the other morning encouraging her 11 ducklings to jump down from the lean to. You can just make out 4 of them on top of the wall in the picture below preparing to leap. They all made it down safely and spent the next 24 hours building up strength before the next stage of their journey as they jumped in to the stream and paddled off.

Where did everybody go? We had a very quiet weekend but with good weather forecast it seemed trips to the seaside and barbies in the garden were popular choices. Throw in a few cup finals, a bank holiday and school half term and it was tumbleweed time along Old Market!

Last day of term in our area so the beginning of the Easter break for many. Combine that with the good weather forecast for the coming weekend and we could find ourselves very busy as folk get together to go out or we could be very quiet as folk head for the coast or stay at home and dust off the BBQ. April is upon us, end of the financial year and no doubt a hefty tax bill to pay! Looking on the bright side (difficult as it is chucking down with rain again at the moment) Spring is here, tubs and shrubs are starting to fill out and we had our first customers sat in the courtyard for brunch last weekend. Orders placed  with fish monger and butcher for Friday’s delivery and menu written for the weekend.
