Weekend menu – 2nd & 3rd June 2017

She got it right this time! Our daft duck was in the courtyard the other morning encouraging her 11 ducklings to jump down from the lean to. You can just make out 4 of them on top of the wall in the picture below preparing to leap. They all made it down safely and spent the next 24 hours building up strength before the next stage of their journey as they jumped in to the stream and paddled off.

Weekend menu – 26 & 27 May 2017

A bit late with the menu today. I can only blame it on the mini heat wave which meant I dashed from the office (which is over the restaurant kitchen and therefore rather warm) once the orders were placed and the menu was written without doing the blog bit! To book your table for dinner please call 01453 832808. We gave the courtyard a tidy yesterday in anticipation of some al fresco opportunities this weekend too.

Weekend menu – 7 & 8 April 2017

Last day of term in our area so the beginning of the Easter break for many. Combine that with the good weather forecast for the coming weekend and we could find ourselves very busy as folk get together to go out or we could be very quiet as folk head for the coast or stay at home and dust off the BBQ. Let’s hope it’s the former and plan accordingly. Tables available for both Friday and Saturday at the moment, please call us on 01453 832808 to book.

Weekend menu – 17 & 18 March 2017

Regular readers may recall the incident last July when a car crashed through the railings outside and smashed into the corner wall of the restaurant. Many weeks of dealing with insurers, builders etc. followed and the wall was eventually repaired. The two damaged sections of railings however were never replaced and the highways department said it needed instructions from district and local councils before proceeding. Well, surprise surprise a couple of chaps pitched up yesterday and planted two shiny new sections of railing a mere eight months after they removed the old bent ones. Table 6 in the window is now a well defended place to sit and eat. Please call 01453 832808 to book it!

Dinner menu – weekend 20/21 Jan ’17

Just read a piece about the cuts to 2017 fishing quotas which will no doubt lead to short supply and increased prices for the more popular U.K. species. The weak pound is also impacting on all imports so we will need to be “canny shoppers” and continue using as much local and regional, seasonal product as possible. Tables available all weekend at time of writing, please call 01453 832808 to book.
