Festive period menu 2018

The first crackers were pulled yesterday lunchtime as we hosted Christmas booking number 1. The festive menu is now running for the rest of December and as always you can reserve a table by calling us on 01453 832808. Please note we are fully booked for Christmas Eve. A few tables are still available for New Years Eve.

Red onion soup with double Gloucester croutons

Devon crab, prawn and crayfish tail “cocktail”

Venison sausage and mash

Pan fried Cornish mackerel fillet with homemade piccalilli

Warm beetroot and soft goats cheese tart with chopped hazelnuts

 

Posh fish pie, Prosecco cream sauce and potato topping

Pan fried sea bass fillet on pepperonata

Aged local beef fillet, sautéed mushrooms, truffle oil and rich red wine sauce              (£3.50 supplement – sorry)

Slow roasted porcetta, garlic, sage and onion stuffing, cider gravy

Did you hear that boffin on the radio yesterday proposing a 2 tier tax on both red meats and processed meats……whatever next? Whilst we still can we have just collected some lovely venison fillets and plump pheasants from our local butcher which will be on the menu this weekend. It’s turning a bit “fresh” in the mornings as we head towards October at a rate of knots.
