Mid week menu – 12 to 14 March 2019

It’s Cheltenham festival week. It used to bring a lot of visitors to the town but that seems to have declined in recent years….lets see what happens this year.

Red onion soup with Cornish blue cheese scones

Pressed ham hock and black pudding terrine with mixed pickles

Pan fried Cornish mackerel fillet on baby plum tomato crostini

Wild rocket and ripe pear salad, shaved Parmesan, balsamic glaze

 Devon crab meat, lemon and dill mayonnaise, toasted sour dough

Seared swordfish steak on tomato, basil and olive sauce

Roast monk fish loin, baby leaf spinach and Prosecco cream

Sautéed Cotswold pork escallops, Gloucester sausage, sage and onion gravy

Roast free range chicken breast, mixed mushroom cream sauce

  Aged local beef fillet “au poivre” (£3.50 supplement, sorry)

Roasted red pepper risotto, soft goats cheese and toasted pine nuts

 Triple chocolate brownie served warm with salty caramel ice cream

Baked cheesecake, mango and passion fruit compote

Warm Yorkshire rhubarb and almond tart with clotted cream ice cream

Four West Country cheeses, Bath Olivers and Hilary’s fruit bread

Well that’s annoying…….we turned away so many tables on Saturday because we were fully booked but had empty tables on Friday night. Cheltenham this week so hopefully we will see a few of the race goers for dinner.

Pan fried bream fillet, Mediterranean vegetables and pesto dressing

Warm salad of roast local venison loin, wild rocket and red onion marmalade

A simple starter of finely sliced oak smoked salmon, Devon crab meat and prawns

Twice baked double Gloucester soufflé on creamed baby leaf spinach (15 minutes)

 

Cornish monk fish tail, plum tomato sauce and marinated olives

Red gurnard fillet and samphire pan fried in chilli citrus butter

Free range chicken breast with red wine, tarragon and tomato jus

Sautéed Cotswold pork escallops, forest mushroom and chive cream sauce

Chestnut mushroom and soy bean millefeuille

We had a quiet weekend. Folk seemed to be taking advantage of the dry spell to get out and about, tidy gardens etc. We had a long walk yesterday and everywhere we went there was the sound of mowers and garden tools. Even did a couple of jobs off the outside list ourselves!
