Mid week menu – 27 to 29 June 2017

English asparagus season is coming to an end soon so we’ll put it on the menu again while we can. We had another delivery from Woodchester Valley Vineyard , both the Bacchus and Regent Rose would pair well with the asparagus for a celebration of  local summer produce.

Just spoke to our fish supplier and we have Devon crab, prawns, crayfish, Isle of Man queen scallops, line caught bass and Cornish monk fish ordered for delivery on Friday morning. Where did everybody go? We had a very quiet weekend but with good weather forecast it seemed trips to the seaside and barbies in the garden were popular choices. Throw in a few cup finals, a bank holiday and school half term and it was tumbleweed time along Old Market!

Weekend menu – 21 & 22 April 2017

Just placed the fish order for tomorrows delivery. Fingers crossed there are no hiccups this week. Last Thursday night the van coming up from the South West did not make it to the rendezvous point in time so the supplier in Cirencester did not receive the stocks they needed to fill the orders they had. I did feel sorry for the chap who was ringing round to irate chefs on Bank Holiday Friday to apologise and inform that numerous items were unavailable, short or substituted. It wasn’t a major issue for us as we just changed the weekend menu and wasted a few sheets of A4 but it will have been a huge spanner in the works for some of the large hotel and banqueting operations. Glad those days are behind us!
