She got it right this time! Our daft duck was in the courtyard the other morning encouraging her 11 ducklings to jump down from the lean to. You can just make out 4 of them on top of the wall in the picture below preparing to leap. They all made it down safely and spent the next 24 hours building up strength before the next stage of their journey as they jumped in to the stream and paddled off.

Where did everybody go? We had a very quiet weekend but with good weather forecast it seemed trips to the seaside and barbies in the garden were popular choices. Throw in a few cup finals, a bank holiday and school half term and it was tumbleweed time along Old Market!

A bit late with the menu today. I can only blame it on the mini heat wave which meant I dashed from the office (which is over the restaurant kitchen and therefore rather warm) once the orders were placed and the menu was written without doing the blog bit! There didn’t seem to be that good a turnout for Nailsworth Festival Saturday this year and as usual the out of town traders who get prime pitches in the town square for their hog roast, burger and food shack stalls meant that we saw lots of folk reading our menus and festival offers whilst already munching their street food! Duck update….she is sat on top of the lean to shaking off the rain drops but no sign of hatching yet. It’s Nailsworth Festival this Saturday. Lot’s going on around the town and we will be featuring Double Gloucester Rarebit alongside our usual brunch menu from 11a.m. ….no need to book.
