Mid week menu – 6 to 8 February 2018

Our Friday fish delivery normally arrives between 8 and 9.30. Last week the driver was knocking on the door at half seven so when it reached 11 a.m with no sign of him this week I rang the supplier to check. The order is definitely out for delivery they said so the driver must have altered his route. When he finally turned up at 3.45 I asked what on earth had happened. Oh he said, I decided to start at my furthest drop then work my way back towards the depot in Cirencester. His farthest drop on a Friday is somewhere in Wales!

Leek and sweet potato soup

Pan fried Devon crab cake with sweet chilli dipping sauce

Spiced aubergine and chick pea stew, Greek yoghurt and pitta bread

An old school prawn cocktail

Slow cooked venison ragu, spaghetti and Parmesan


Cornish monk fish, buttered samphire and curry cream sauce

Pan fried sea bass fillet on a bed of fine ratatouille

Sautéed Cotswold pork escallops, cannellini beans, bacon and tomato

  Aged local beef fillet with a rich oxtail gravy (£3.50 supplement, sorry)

7 spiced Barbary duck breast sliced over dark soy, sesame and ginger jus

Chestnut mushroom Stroganoff on red, white and wild rice


Dark chocolate and orange torte with tangy orange sorbet

Blueberry and almond tart served warm with clotted cream ice cream

A classic crème brulée with fine butter shortbread

Four West Country cheeses, Bath Olivers and Hilary’s fruit bread
