Mid week menu – 11 to 13 April ’17

Duck update……they were hatching on Friday night so we prepared the courtyard and cleared a route to the stream on Saturday morning. Sure enough mum plus about 10 ducklings wandered along the wall mid morning all ready to make the leap in to the flower beds below. Suddenly mum swerved off to the right and landed in next door’s yard and the little ones followed her down there. There was much quacking and flapping then as she realised there is no access to the water from that side and of course whilst she can fly back over to our courtyard the ducklings can’t! The ladies from the RSPCA shop next door then had an eventful day trying to round them all up in to box and transport them down to the town square from where they could access the stream safely.

Roasted pepper and tomato soup

Pan fried Devon crab cake with sweet chilli dipping sauce

Spiced lamb flat bread, red onion and cucumber relish, wild rocket

Severn and Wye oak smoked and dill cured salmon, lemon and baby capers

Twice baked double Gloucester soufflé on spinach cream sauce (15 min please)

 

Pan fried sea bass fillet with tomato and basil dressing

Cornish monk fish tail, Prosecco and parsley cream sauce

Asian spiced Barbary duck breast sliced over dark soy and ginger jus

Sautéed Cotswold pork escallops, woodland mushroom and chive cream sauce

  Aged local beef fillet, wild garlic butter, rich red wine reduction (£3.50 supplement, sorry)

Baharat spiced aubergine and chick pea stew on red, white and wild rice

Mixed mushroom millefeuile, herb cream sauce and white truffle oil

 

English apple and almond tart served warm with clotted cream ice cream

A classic crème brulée with fine butter shortbread

Dark chocolate and orange torte, tangy orange sorbet

Four West Country cheeses, Bath Olivers and Hilary’s fruit bread
