Mid week menu – 8 to 10 November ’16

The new stone blocks have finally arrived for the repairs to the corner of the building following the “car meets restaurant” incident earlier in the year. The reason for the long delay was that the stone cutter put the measurements in the pocket of his shorts then forgot about them before doing his laundry……or so we are told!!? Now of course with temperatures forecast to dip below freezing it will probably be too cold for lime mortar work this week.At this rate the insurance company will have closed the file by the time we get the invoice in!

Red onion soup, double Gloucester croutons

Pan fried smoked haddock fish cake with tartare sauce

Ham hock and peas in grain mustard cream sauce on toasted bloomer

Salt and pepper squid with spiced vinegar dipping sauce

Wild rocket, fennel and orange salad with crumbled Feta and mixed seeds

 

Cornish monk fish tail, baby leaf spinach and plum tomato sauce

Pan fried fillets of gilt head bream on dark soy, sesame and ginger jus

Roast pheasant breast with chestnuts and Cognac sauce

Sautéed Cotswold pork escallops, winter mushroom cream sauce

  Aged local beef fillet, horseradish crumble and a rich red wine reduction                  (£3.50 supplement, sorry)

Butternut squash and chick pea Madras with saffron scented rice

 

Dark chocolate and black cherry torte, clotted cream ice cream

A classic crème brulée with fine butter shortbread

Warm apple and almond tart, green apple sorbet

Four West Country cheeses, Bath Olivers and Hilary’s fruit bread
