Weekend menu – 29 & 30 January 2016

We had an unannounced visit from the Stroud District Council environmental health officer this week and following the inspection we were awarded our usual 5 star (very good) food hygiene rating. We had lunch at the Severn and Wye smokery on Monday which has inspired one of the starters on the weekend menu. Also we have some of those cute little queen scallops arriving in the morning, they sold well when we had them on last time. Spaces for Valentines are going fast so if you are yet to book please do not delay.

Red onion soup with double Gloucester croutons
A trio of smoked fish
( mackerel pâté, Severn and Wye smoked salmon, smoked haddock fish cake)
Winter mushroom millefeuille, chive cream sauce and truffle oil
Half a dozen isle of Mann queenies grilled with chorizo butter
Local venison sausage and mash with rich herb gravy

South coast gurnard fillets in piquant tomato and flat leaf parsley sauce
Poached sea trout supreme with peas and Prosecco cream sauce
Pan roasted local pheasant breast, Bramley apple sauce and cider jus
Sautéed Cotswold pork escalopes, buttered leeks, grain mustard cream
Aged local beef fillet, slow braised oxtail gravy £3.50 supplement – sorry!
Baharat spiced aubergine and chick pea stew on red, white and wild rice
