Weekend menu – 15 & 16 May 2015

Well….I was going to tell you that we are fully booked for Saturday night but a party of 8 cancelled so we suddenly have a number of tables free this weekend. 01453 832808 is the number to call .            We have been using quite a lot of Loch reared trout lately…the producer is RSPCA monitored and Freedom food approved, the fish have really good flavour, colour and texture…..but I was a little surprised when a vegetarian customer ordered it as a main course despite it being “farmed” !?

Roasted red pepper soup
A simple starter of finely sliced Severn and Wye oak smoked salmon with Devon crab meat and prawns
English asparagus and air dried ham baked under Parmesan cream
Crisp battered squid rings with sweet chilli dipping sauce
Warm feta cheese and marinated artichoke tart, pea shoot salad
Pan seared swordfish steak with smoked tomato relish
Poached supreme of loch reared trout, samphire and mild curry cream
Aged local beef fillet, braised shallot and Port jus £3.50 supplement – sorry!
Roast Barbary duck breast, Bramley apple sauce and cider gravy
Sautéed Cotswold pork escalopes, chestnut mushroom cream sauce
Wild garlic and spinach risotto with slow roasted English tomatoes
Baked toffee banana cheesecake
Dark chocolate and English strawberry trifle
Warm rhubarb and almond tart with clotted cream ice cream
Four west country cheeses, Bath Olivers and Hilary’s fruit bread
