Oldstone mid week menu – 27 to 29 May 2014

Sorry we are a bit late getting this menu posted. We took advantage of a fine bank holiday morning and drove over to the Forest of Dean stopping off at the Severn and Wye smokery en route. Enjoyed a slate of mixed smoked fish with rustic bread and horseradish for lunch and secured some smoked chicken for the weekend menu.

Roasted red pepper soup
A simple starter of Severn and Wye oak smoked salmon, crayfish tails and pink prawns with tarragon mayonnaise
Baked egg with English asparagus, air dried ham, cream and Parmesan
Heirloom tomato, wild rocket and baby mozzarella salad
Deep fried battered squid rings with sweet chilli dipping sauce
Baked Cornish cod loin, baby leaf spinach and mild curry cream
Pan fried sea bass fillet with wild garlic pesto
Seven spiced Barbary duck breast sliced over dark soy and ginger jus
Cotswold pork escalopes, chestnut mushroom and chive cream sauce
Aged local beef fillet with red onion marmalade and a rich Port wine reduction £3.50 supplement – sorry!
A summer risotto of green vegetables finished with white truffle oil
English strawberry and dark chocolate torte
Warm pecan tart with clotted cream ice cream
A classic crème brulée with fine butter shortbread
Four west country cheeses, Bath Olivers and Hilary’s fruit bread
