Oldstone dinner menu – 20 to 22 May 2014

Good to see the town so busy on Saturday for the start of the Nailsworth festival. As usual the organisers of these events allow numerous burger stands, ice cream vans etc. to set up in the square so that the town’s many eateries who pay their rates all year round don’t get to benefit from the extra footfall!  Hey ho…at least the sun is shining.

Red onion soup with double Gloucester croutons
A simple crayfish tail cocktail
Baked egg with English asparagus, savoury cream and Parmesan
Marinated tomatoes on toasted bloomer with Serrano ham
Pan fried Devon crab cake, sweet chilli dipping sauce
Cornish gurnard fillet, baby leaf spinach, mild curry cream
Pan fried sea bass fillet on dark soy and ginger jus
Roast Barbary duck breast, Bramley apple sauce and cider reduction
Cotswold pork escalopes topped with mixed bean and chorizo stew
Aged local beef fillet with beetroot relish and a rich red wine sauce £3.50 supplement – sorry!
Chestnut mushroom Stroganoff with saffron scented rice
English strawberry and meringue sundae
Dark chocolate mousse, white chocolate ice, milk chocolate cookie
Warm pear and almond tart with crème brulée ice cream
Four west country cheeses, Bath Olivers and Hilary’s fruit bread
