Oldstone dinner menu – 21 to 23 January 2014

After a quiet week we did manage to have a full house for dinner on Friday and Saturday which was good as January can be a difficult month. The Welsh farmed bass were really good so we have ordered some more……they are reared on the Isle of Anglesey and have the highest Marine Conservation Society sustainability rating.

Red onion soup with double Gloucester croutons

Finely sliced salmon gravadlax, honey mustard dressing

Warm soft cheese tart with wild rocket and pear salad

Pan fried Devon crab cake, sweet chilli dipping sauce

Seared filet mignon of local venison, beetroot slaw, Port jus


Pan fried fillet of Welsh bass on spiced aubergine and tomato

Poached sea trout supreme, baby spinach, lemon cream sauce

Roast local pheasant breast, apple sauce and Calvados reduction

Cotswold pork escalopes, winter mushrooms, cream sauce

Aged local beef fillet with rich, Stroud brewery ale and onion gravy

Slow roasted little plum tomato and pesto risotto


Moist Tunisian almond cake with tangy orange sorbet

Crème brulée with fine butter shortbread

Dark chocolate and salty caramel tart, clotted cream ice cream
