Oldstone dinner menu – weekend 10 & 11 January 2014

No surprise that the fish supplier did not have a great selection to offer when they called earlier. The coast has taken a real battering over the past week and many of the smaller day boats have not gone to sea…..who can blame them! With great swathes of the country under water at present we are sure to have ruined crops and price rises as the year unfolds as well.

Red onion soup with Parmesan croutons

Pan fried Devon crab cake, sweet chilli dipping sauce

Seared local venison loin, wild rocket salad and beetroot relish

Prawn and spiced avocado tian with lime dressing

Winter mushrooms in herb cream sauce on toasted bloomer


Poached salmon supreme, white wine and dill cream sauce

Steamed sea bass fillet with soy, ginger, sesame and spring onion

Aged local beef fillet, roast shallot and rich red wine reduction £3.50 supplement – sorry!

Cotswold pork escalopes topped with braised lentils and bacon

Roast local pheasant breast, chestnuts and Vintage Port jus

Tomato confit risotto, baby leaf spinach, melting goats cheese


Warm pecan tart with clotted cream ice cream

Baked black cherry cheesecake

Dark chocolate and orange torte with tangy orange sorbet

Four west country cheeses, Bath Olivers and Hilary’s fruit bread
