Oldstone dinner menu – weekend 18 &19 October 2013

Another table booked for New Years Eve last night so that is one side of the dining room full already. Pheasant season in full swing now and pumpkins are everywhere!…..Hilary is making her take on a spiced pumpkin cheesecake we had in America last week……smells good.

Roast tomato soup

Pan fried Cornish mackerel fillet, skinny chips and tartare sauce

Warm salad of sautéed duck breast with soy and ginger

A simple starter of finely sliced smoked salmon, Devon crab meat and prawns with lemon dill mayonnaise

Field mushrooms fried in garlic butter on toasted bloomer


Poached turbot in white wine and watercress cream sauce

Pan seared tuna loin with sweet chilli and tomato salsa

Aged local beef fillet with sautéed chorizo and Rioja reduction £3.50 supplement – sorry!

Roast local pheasant breast, apple sauce and cider gravy

Pan fried Cotswold pork escalopes with mushroom cream sauce

Melting goats cheese, red pepper, pesto and spinach puff


Baked pumpkin cheesecake

Warm pear and almond tart with clotted cream ice cream

Crème brulée with fine butter shortbread

Four west country cheeses, Bath Olivers and Hilary’s fruit bread
