Oldstone menu Friday 4 & Saturday 5 May 2012

Badminton Horse Trials have been cancelled this weekend due to the waterlogged ground. I have to say it rained so heavily overnight that I thought I might gather 2 of everything this morning and head to the high ground with my “how to build an Ark” manual!!                          Food wise….some nice spring / summer veggies available….south coast fish and shellfish….locally sourced meats, eggs and dairy produce.                                                                                                                            Despite the Badminton cancellations we are full again for Saturday dinner, spaces available for Friday evening and Saturday brunch looks like being an indoor affair once again this weekend, no need to book just dash in out of the rain.

Fillet of Dorset char, samphire, Jersey Royals and horseradish crème fraiche

Evesham asparagus with Parmesan and smoked bacon bits

A bowl of steamed mussels in garlic and fresh tomato sauce

Warm salad of wild rocket and roast Mediterranean vegetables


Brixham brill fillet with Devon crab cream sauce

Fillet of bream simply pan fried in chilli and flat leaf butter

Cotswold pork tenderloin with sautéed onions and sage jus

Roast Barbary duck breast, apple sauce and cider reduction

Aged local beef fillet “au poivre” £3 supplement – sorry!

Chestnut mushroom and truffle risotto, baby leaf spinach


Warm pecan tart with clotted cream ice cream

English strawberry and meringue sundae

Dark chocolate ginger cheesecake

Four west country cheeses, Bath Olivers and Hilary’s fruit bread
