The first section of railing went back up yesterday but it is either too frosty or too wet for Pete to get a full days work in on the front wall. Better weather forecast so fingers crossed!

So much for the New years diet. We had 30 customers in for brunch on Saturday and 17 of them had our Oldstone breakfast…..Rose had to run to the butcher at 12.30 for more Gloucester sausages!

If you are looking for a lighter evening meal don’t forget we offer a starter and pudding off the dinner menu for £13.50 including pre dinner canapes and freshly baked bread with home made houmus and Netherend farm butter. Helen usually has two starters when she comes in which is fine with us.

Difficult conditions off the south coast but a few brave skippers have been out. Monk, bass, crabs and mussels arriving in the morning. A few more weeks of Pheasant. Mike the butcher has promised me a good supply of venison loin fillets from the recent local shoots.

Pete started work on repairing the front stone wall and re- seating the wobbly railings before Christmas but progress is painfully slow due to the weather……it will look good when it is done!
